Do you have a bar or a special area for just drinks and aperitifis?

Unfortunately not, our restaurant spaces are reserved for dining.

Is it possible to book a table for desserts?

We respectfully ask that our guests order a minimum of one main course per person. 

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend reserving tables and suites in advance to avoid disappointment. 

What is the difference between the two dining rooms?

The Original Dining room is lined with tapestry and leather panelling and has a low oak painted heraldic ceiling. The Secret Garden is an elegant room with a high, painted ceiling depicting images of the tarot, and French doors leading to an urn-filled terrace. 

Is the Secret Garden suitable for winter?

Yes, the Secret Garden dining room is an indoor space.

Are your facilities accessible?

Unfortunately not. Due to the location of our building in the very heart of the gothic Old Town we are limited in what we can do. There are 18 steps to the Secret Garden and four steps to the Original Dining Room.

When is food served at The Witchery?

Our restaurant is open all day from noon until 10:30pm (last reservation).

  • Lunch is served between noon and 4:30pm.
  • Afternoon Tea is served between 3pm and 4pm (Monday-Friday).
  • Dinner is served between 5pm and 10:30pm.

Do you serve breakfast?

Yes, we serve breakfast for residents of the hotel only.

Do you have a car park?

Unfortunately we don't have a car park, but there is an NCP car park a short 5-minute stroll away at the corner of Johnston Terrace and Castle Terrace, EH1 2EW. 

When does the kitchen close?

Our last reservation is 10:30pm, 7 days a week. The kitchen closes once these guests have been served.

Do you have a dress code?

We encourage a smart dress code in our dining rooms. Many diners will be dressed for a celebration.

Do you cater for special dietary needs, for example gluten-free, vegan etc.?

Yes, we do. Please let your server know of any special dietary requirements.

Do you accommodate children? Do you have a kids' menu?

We can accommodate children over 10 years old. We do not have a children's menu. 

Do you accommodate large groups?

Due to the intimate nature of the restaurant, the maximum party size is six guests

Do you have a gift shop?

Not yet. 

Are you dog-friendly?

Unfortunately not, however our sister property Prestonfield is dog friendly.  Dogs are welcome in all bedrooms and public rooms at Prestonfield with the exception of Rhubarb restaurant 

Are all of your menus available throughout the year?

Throughout August and the 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year we only offer an a la carte menu.

How long do you keep lost property for?

All lost property will be catalogued and kept for up to 1 month. If there has been no arrangement made after that time, items will be donated to charity.
